Experience
My clinical work began during my master’s level training in 2004 where I worked at the Western Michigan University's Counseling and Testing Center providing career counseling to students on campus. In addition, I conducted individual counseling to clients presenting with problems which included depression, anxiety, stress management, couple conflict, and adjustment issues.
While completing my pre-doctoral internship at Florida State University, I worked with students on campus, providing individual, couple, group work, and a variety of workshops. Upon graduating with my doctoral degree, I began a post doctoral experience in Houston, Testing working with clients who were involved with Child Protective Services, and with patients in nursing homes who were dealing with a variety of issues including adjustment to life changes and bereavment/grief and end of live issues. While working at my post doctoral residency, I was offered a position as a contractual Assistant Professor. Concurrent to working in the University Counseling and Testing Center, I also taught graduate classes in the Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology department and worked in private practice.
Although, I have made the transition from counseling center work to private practice, I continue to be involved in academia working as an Adjunct Professor at Western Michigan University since 2009.
